Where Do You Homeschool?

Do you have a special room set aside? Are you a "couch schooler"? Do you move around the house all day long? Is your kitchen table covered with books, science equipment and crafts?

We would love to see lots of pictures of where you teach your children!

We used to do school in the dining room. I had two huge cabinets overflowing with school stuff. And I confess, we are not great at putting stuff away when we are done. So, it always looked like a homeschool conference got sick in my dining room. Dh didn't mind, he's not neat either. I was tired of it and I wanted a dining room.

Our house is four bedroom and each boy had his own room. M never slept in his own room. One day, he and Q asked to share a room. OK. I grew up sharing a room with my sister. She's 6 years younger than me, I did not like it. M and Q are 22 months apart and are great buddies. Immediately, when they asked, I had visions of a school room. I told them we'd have to ask dad. We sat the boys down and told them this would be the arrangement until they moved out. Originally, I took the smallest room for our school room.
You couldn't turn around in there. The roomies were in the largest room and N was in the middle. One day, I'm trying to organize the tiny school room, (again!) when suddenly I had visions of a larger, roomier school room, and I looked across the hall and behold!- our new school room. N, being 12, did not really "play" on his floor with toys anymore. So he didn't need floor space. We moved him and his furniture into the small room. Dh and I went to Home Depot and purchased shelving material and paint. And voila! Our school room. I also have been teaching our science class in there too. I love it :)

I do read alouds in the living room or on my bed. N will often do his reading in his room or the living room. Q gets frustrated if there's any noise (LOL! when is there not noise?) and will go in the dining room to do math. The school room is sure a nice place for keeping all our stuff :)
I tried to get some pictures of the boys in the room yesterday, but they wouldn't cooperate.
Sorry, I don't have current pictures (these are from an old post), you wou ldn't w ant to see it this morning , anyway ;)

Our dining room doubles as our school room. We use the dining room table for the majority of our school work.

Yes, the bookshelves are great!

And I'm digging the new buttery yellow w/ plum, green & brown. It is simple and pleasing with a nice, warm feel to it. And somehow it manages to be both neutral and cheerfully colorful at the same time.

I wish more of these wider style templates were readily available.

Very nice. Our spare room is only a 2.5 seasons room, so winters are spent in the kitchen, which is cozy. But if I had a spare room that was cozy, I'd love to have all our stuff in one spot.
I am glad I met you!
